How to Obtain a Marriage License
Marriage Licenses are obtained through the City Clerk's Office for any couple getting married in Massachusetts. The fee is $35.00 Cash and the following criteria must be met:
1. The license is valid for 60 days from the date it is applied for. Therefore, you must
be married within 60 days.
2. Both parties must bring a valid photo ID.
3. There is a three (3) day waiting period from the time the intention is filed until the
couple can actually be married (ex. apply on Monday, can get married Thursday or
later within 60 days)
4. The Couple must know who will perform their wedding. If the couple needs someone,
the City Clerk can perform the wedding if they so desire.
