The Human Resources Department was created by City Ordinance in 2004. It is the primary contact for individuals seeking regular employment with all City departments, except the School Department and TMLP.

The Human Resource Department is committed to a broad range of personnel services and benefits designed to develop and maintain a high quality workforce, meeting the needs of our community for excellence in municipal services.

In addition to the coordination of hiring of staff, the Human Resource Department is responsible for:

  • Compensation - Ensures that all employees are paid fairly, while ensuring that the City uses the available financial resources well.
  • Collective Bargaining - Represents the City in labor relation matters including collective bargaining with employees represented by unions.
  • Training and Staff Development - Works to insure employees have the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform their positions.
  • Workers Compensation and Unemployment Compensation - Administers the workers compensation and unemployment compensation programs for the City.
  • Safety and Wellness Activities - Oversees the coordination of safety and wellness committees and activities to help employees be proactive about their health and well being.
