Inspections from the Board of Health are required as part of the permitting process due to federal, state, or local regulations, or as a result of a complaint.

Animals & Birds
In order to protect public health, safety, welfare, and the environment, and to avoid unnecessary public health nuisances, the Board of Health adopted the Domestic Animal and Bird Regulations under authority of Massachusetts General Laws (MGL) Chapter 111 Section 31 and Section 122.

Asbestos
In an effort to ensure that asbestos removal is conducted in compliance with all applicable regulations, all contractors conducting residential or commercial asbestos removal in Taunton must obtain an Asbestos Abatement Permit from the City of Taunton Board of Health.

In order to protect the health, safety, and well-being of the occupants of housing and the general public, the Taunton Board of Health inspects all housing complaints under the Housing Code 105 CMR 410.000.

As of May 1, 2008 the Board of Registration of Massage Therapy is now permitting all massage therapists.

Septic systems that are not properly designed or maintained contribute pathogens and nutrients to groundwater and surface water, endangering drinking water supplies, shellfish beds, and surface water bodies. Title 5 of the State Environmental Code, 310 CMR 15.000, protects you, your family, and your neighbors from these public health threats.
