The City of Taunton has a combined Sanitary Sewer System that was initially constructed in 1870. The Wastewater Treatment Facility built in 1950 is regulated by EPA Region 1 and MassDEP and has a permitted capacity of 8.4 million gallons per day. The existing collection sewer system encompasses over 300 miles of combined sewer and stormwater pipe and 40 sewer pumping stations, servicing Taunton and neighboring communities of Raynham, Norton, and Dighton.
