Pools

PoolTo ensure public safety, the Taunton Board of Health permits and inspects all public and semi-public pools/spas in the City of Taunton according to the minimum sanitation standards for swimming pools set forth in Chapter V of the State Sanitary Code, 105CMR 435.000.

Permitting

A Permit Application must be filled out prior to the opening of an outdoor/indoor pool/spa or before the expiration of the permit for an indoor pool/spa.

Fees

  • $150 for a Pool Permit per Year
  • $150 for a Spa Permit per Year

Indoor PoolA check or money order with the correct fee payable to the City of Taunton must be provided with the application along with:

  • A copy of your Certified Pool Operator's Certificate
  • Results from a water analysis conducted by a certified laboratory.

Water Quality Analysis

The water quality analysis must include, but is not limited to; coliform, heterotrophic plate count, free chlorine, alkalinity, PH, and pseudomonas.

Application & Permits

Once the application is received, the Board of Health will contact you to set up an appointment to inspect the pool and/or spa.

When all of the proper documentation is submitted and the pool/spa has passed an inspection from the Board of Health, a permit will be issued. A pool/spa permit is only good for one year and expires on December 31st.
