O’CONNELL CELEBRATES HALLOWEEN WITH LOCAL KIDS AT AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Taunton, MA…Mayor Shaunna O’Connell visited local youth programs this past week for some Halloween fun in the lead up to this weekend’s Halloween festivities in the City of Taunton. Children at the Boys & Girls Club, Old Colony YMCA and Girls, Inc. excitedly welcomed the Mayor to their afterschool programs.
“Spending time with these amazing kids is one of the best parts of my job as Mayor. I love seeing their smiling faces and hearing their joyous laughter. I’m so happy our City provides so many opportunities for our children to enjoy Halloween. I’m looking forward to seeing my little friends at the Downtown Trunk or Treat on Saturday,” said O’Connell.
The Downtown area will be host to several Halloween events leading up to Halloween on Monday, October 31, 2022. A Pumpkin Extravaganza is being held from Thursday, October 27, 2022 through Monday, October 31, 2022 at Liberty & Union Park (78 Main Street). Carved pumpkins will be on display and lit from dusk until 9pm.
On Saturday, October 29, 2022, the City of Taunton Parks & Recreation Department will host Halloween Happenings from 4:30pm - 8:30pm Downtown from Taunton Green to Church Green. Residents should plan ahead for the closure of roads in the area beginning at 3:00pm and lasting until 8:30pm. This free event will include Trunk or Treat from 4:30pm-6:15pm, followed by an outdoor Halloween movie on Taunton Green.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution on Halloween night paying close attention to children crossing the streets. Parents should ensure children use sidewalks and cross only at the corners while covering one side of the street at a time. As always, trick-or-treaters should bring bags home to be checked by an adult before eating any treats.###
