1. If a local non-profit group wants to organize a tag day in the City, how do they get permission to do so?

All non-profit groups wishing to conduct tag days for their organization must contact the Mayor's Office at 508-821-1000. Our quality and courteous staff will coordinate the scheduling of the days for your event.

The term of office for the position of Mayor is two years.

3. What are some of the duties of the Mayor?

The Mayor is the chief executive officer for the Taunton City Government. The Mayor is responsible for the municipal budget and to ensure that the citizens get a wide variety of quality services for their tax dollars. The Mayor chairs the weekly meetings of the City Council and the Mayor chairs the formal meetings of the School Committee meetings that occur every other week. The Mayor works with the Superintendent of Schools to ensure that the students are provided a quality education. The Mayor works in concert with business leaders to encourage economic growth in the community.
